This past week has been one of those lesson-learning not-so-comfortable weeks <\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

You know\u2026 the kind of week that pretty much changes <\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Not only was my oldest son was a way at summer camp, several states away from me, for a whole week,\u00a0but I also could not communicate with him to make sure that he was <\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

As I\u2019ve mentioned before, my son has Autism, so I really had to\u00a0surrender\u00a0and have faith that he would be able to deal all of the things that were so far outside of his comfort zone (and mine!), like not knowing what was going to be served for meals, sleeping in a tent during the thunderstorms that came through at night, and facing his fear of spiders and <\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

When I saw my son step out of the bus on Saturday night, it took everything in the world for me not to lose it!\u00a0 I felt so much joy and relief!\u00a0 He was in one piece,\u00a0smiling, looked like he’d matured 5 years,\u00a0and all he wanted to do was hug <\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Yes, there were \u201chorror stories\u201d of spiders and bugs and rain and mud, but, overall, he had a good time, he asked for peanut butter and jelly sandwiches when he didn’t like the food being served, tried to keep the bugs away from him with repellent,\u00a0and he said he was so tired he slept through the <\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

As uncomfortable and unfamiliar as it all felt for him, he got through it (and so did <\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

What this week taught me is that, even though things may be scary and uncomfortable \u2013 and\u00a0way out of your comfort zone<\/em>\u00a0\u2013 it\u2019s only when you step outside of our comfort zone that you can <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Think about it.<\/span><\/p>\n

The results that you have today are the results you\u2019ve been able to produce from inside of your comfort zone.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The relationships you\u2019ve had (or not had) the experiences you\u2019ve created, and the current state of your love life were all produced\u00a0inside<\/em>\u00a0of your comfort zone.<\/span><\/p>\n

The comfort zone keeps you feeling \u201csafe.\u201d\u00a0 It has you make predictable choices.\u00a0 It doesn\u2019t ask you to risk too much, because that would feel\u00a0uncomfortable<\/em>.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The truth is, however that the results you\u00a0really<\/em>\u00a0want can\u2019t be produced inside of your comfort zone.\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

If you want to change your current situation, you\u2019re going to have to be willing to step beyond what feels safe and comfortable and take a risk.<\/span><\/p>\n

You\u2019re going to have to be willing to let go of the familiar patterns and behaviors that have been keeping you stuck and feeling hopeless and alone.<\/span><\/p>\n

You\u2019re going to need to make a change.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

And, yes, it\u2019s going to feel scary.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

And, no, there are no guarantees.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

On the other hand, the only guarantee\u00a0inside<\/em>\u00a0of your comfort zone is that you\u2019ll continue making the same choices, getting the same results, and having the same painful experiences you\u2019ve been having.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Imagine for a second what you\u2019d be able to do if you stepped outside of your comfort?<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

What would be possible for you?<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
