It\u2019s also the closing of a decade!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u00a0As you look forward to ringing in this new year (<\/span>and new decade<\/i>!) let me ask you a question.<\/span><\/p>\n \u00a0And be honest with yourself here.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n \u00a0Are you where you thought you would be when it comes to love?\u00a0<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n \u00a0While talking to a woman the other day, she realized that it had been 11 years since she\u2019d been in a relationship. It\u2019s been <\/span>an entire decade <\/i><\/span>since she experienced love!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n \u00a0When we think about it in terms of years, it really puts it into perspective doesn\u2019t it?!<\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n \u00a0Now, I don\u2019t tell you this or ask you the question to depress you or make you feel bad.<\/b><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n \u00a0I simply know that if the topic of love is important to you (and I know it is, because you\u2019re reading this), then it\u2019s probably something you gave some thought to as you entered into 2019.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n \u00a0And if you\u2019re not where you thought you would be by now, it\u2019s probably on your mind for 2020.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n \u00a0There is a powerful opportunity for you here to have an honest conversation with yourself about where you are and where you want to go. It matters to you and it gets to happen this decade and even this year!!<\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n \u00a0I invite you to go through the following exercise, RIGHT NOW!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n \u00a0Take out a piece of paper and take just a few minutes to answer the questions and think about what you yearn to create. Be crystal-clear about how you feel about what you want.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n \u00a0I heard recently, \u201cOur actions are our prayers to heaven.\u201d What are your actions saying about what you really truly want?\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n \u00a0New Year, New Decade Personal Inventory Exercise<\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n <\/b><\/p>\n 1. Look at where you thought you\u2019d be. Whether you\u2019re single or in a relationship, where did you think you\u2019d be in December 2019?\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n Write it down. Be very clear and as descriptive as possible.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Did you think you\u2019d be in a committed, loving relationship?\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Did you think you\u2019d be spending Christmas with someone you love?\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Did you think you\u2019d be traveling with this person?\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Did you think your relationship would be more passionate by this time this year?\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Be very honest with yourself here. And remember: Our brains are designed to look for what\u2019s going to protect you, not what will actually make you happy. So there\u2019s no right or wrong answer here, just make sure you are being very honest with yourself.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n 2. Where are you now, compared to where you thought you\u2019d be?\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n Is it the same? Better? Worse than you thought?\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Have you even thought about it this year?\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Have you distracted yourself with other things because it hurts too much to try?\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Do you feel like you\u2019re okay, but really you\u2019re just surviving because you don\u2019t have what you really yearn for?\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Again, be really honest here. If you continue to make it \u201cokay,\u201d even if it\u2019s not what you really want, nothing will ever change.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n 3. Now that you\u2019ve compared, honesty, where you thought you\u2019d be to where you actually are\u2026 what\u2019s missing? What\u2019s in the gap?\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n Get honest with yourself. Admit that you\u2019re tired of it being this way.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n And look at yourself. What needs to shift?\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Get curious about what is in the way.<\/span><\/p>\n Note: It\u2019s not that the guy is the thing that\u2019s missing\u2026. What gets to shift <\/span>inside you <\/i>so that you can create what you want to create in love?<\/span><\/p>\n 4. The last step is to write your vision about where you want to be.\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n Where do you want to be in December 2020? A year from now, what will you have created?\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n What does it look like?<\/span><\/p>\n How does it feel to be in that <\/i>kind of relationship?<\/span><\/p>\n How will you know <\/i>that\u00a0 you\u2019re exactly in the place you want to be?<\/span><\/p>\n Write it down.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Maybe what you write now is different from what you thought you wanted last year. That\u2019s okay.<\/span><\/p>\n You\u2019ve had experiences this year, you\u2019ve grown, you\u2019ve learned.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Or maybe you haven\u2019t and you feel stagnant.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Either way, honor where you\u2019ve come over the last year,\u00a0 and based on where you are today, write what it is that you want to create now.<\/span><\/p>\n How did that feel? How was that exercise for you?\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n We really hope you took the time to do it, because it\u2019s powerful.
