by Gladys Diaz\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n What is your definition of integrity<\/i>?\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n The universal answers that probably come to mind are,\u201dBeing honest,\u201d or \u201cDoing the right thing when nobody’s watching.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n Here\u2019s our definition:\u201cHonoring your word to the same level that you honor yourself.\u201d\u00a0<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n This looks like following through with the things you say you\u2019ll do – both to yourself and to others.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n This looks like honoring your personal thoughts and beliefs.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n This looks like knowing what you want and not settling for less.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n There was a time in my life when I didn\u2019t really think about integrity. It just wasn\u2019t something that mattered to me. I thought that being ten minutes late was still being on time. I justified my behavior and figured that if I didn\u2019t follow through on things, people would understand.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n The thing is, I had no idea what I was doing to myself subconsciously.<\/span><\/p>\n The fact is, I was destroying my confidence regarding what I deserved<\/b>. I was destroying the level of belief I had in myself about what I could create and accomplish.<\/span><\/p>\n Every time I took a job that paid less than what I wanted, I was diminishing\u00a0 my personal integrity.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Every time I called a guy I liked after I\u2019d promised myself I\u2019d wait to hear from him. I was showing that I didn\u2019t believe I was worth being honest to.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Every time I didn\u2019t stick to a diet or exercise plan ,I was lowering my ability to trust myself.<\/span><\/p>\n I didn\u2019t see that what I said mattered<\/i>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n The problem with this is that you can\u2019t create a powerful life if you can\u2019t trust yourself.<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n Every time I lowered my integrity, my life got more chaotic.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n And, finally I had a powerful wake-up call.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cWhat if I started living my life by<\/i> what I say matters<\/i><\/b>?<\/i>\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n Guess what happened?<\/span><\/p>\n Well, when it comes to dating,I stopped tolerating certain things. If a guy said he\u2019d call at a certain time and he didn\u2019t, I noticed. If he did it time and time again I would choose to let him go.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n I stopped dating men that were separated, but still married.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n I raised my standards and stopped dating men who lied, did marijuana, and had lower standards than me.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n By raising my standards, I raised my awareness.<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n I realized that I could choose, and I started to choose differently.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n I started dating men who cared about integrity, too, and that made <\/span>all the difference<\/i>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n What if <\/b><\/span>you<\/b><\/span> were living your life like what you say matters? What might change?<\/b>\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n The #1 thing that improves self confidence is following through with the things you say you\u2019ll do – both to others AND to yourself.\u00a0<\/i><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n Even the little things!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n You can\u2019t attract what you don\u2019t create. You must start with yourself and have a look at your own level of integrity.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n When it comes to dating, you get to choose what you tolerate in a relationship – <\/span>you<\/b><\/span> get to decide!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n We get it, sometimes emotions and attraction take over and we make concessions and accept behavior we don\u2019t like.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n That\u2019s why you need to be aware and awake.<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n Does he show up late or cancel 50% of the time?\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Does he treat you well both publicly <\/span>and<\/i> privately?\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Are you tolerating something you don\u2019t want to have in a relationship?<\/span><\/p>\n These are just the beginning of the questions you can ask yourself to make sure you are creating or in the kind of\u00a0 relationship you\u2019d like to be in.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n And, if it appears that you\u2019re in a relationship that lacks respect and integrity – look at yourself <\/span>first<\/i>. Be honest with yourself about whether or not you are respecting and being in integrity with yourself.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Don\u2019t waste time and energy on things that don\u2019t matter.
